AJ U8s after their game against Wimbledon on 11th June 2016

AJ U8’s played a friendly pairs match against Wimbledon.c.c today at Dundonald Park.

Scores: AJ lost the toss and were asked to bat first and they posted 299 for the loss of 13 wickets. Ending up on 234 runs. In reply Wimbledon.c.c scored 291 for the loss of 11 wickets. Ending up on 236. As you can see from the scores it was a day for the bowlers and fielders. 24 wickets fell in 40 overs.

Result:  AJ lost by 2 runs. Congratulations to Wimbledon!

Big thank you to the Wimbledon boys and Garey Howe their coach for coming to our home ground and playing their part in this really close encounter.

Highlights: AJ boys made me proud by the way the kept the pressure on the Wimbledon boys in the field picking up wickets at regular intervals. Roshan and Freddie started off brilliantly picking up 7 wickets in the first 8 overs. Roshan was the pick of the bowlers today picking up 4 wickets in his 2 overs spell. Kiran also picked up two wickets in his 2 over spell.  Luca and Reggie also bowled really well and took a wicket each. All the bowlers did their job by bowling economically and kept the extras total down to 20 which was a top effort from all the lads! Special mention should go to Freddie who kept wickets brilliantly conceding only 3 byes in a 20 overs match and he also took a sharp catch off Roshan’s bowling.

In the field all the AJ boys were sharp and took some amazing catches. Jacobi took two lovely catches and nearly took one more on the mid wicket boundary which would have been the most amazing catch. Top effort from him!

With the bat AJ boys were below par today but there were many positives, our running b/w the wickets was excellent, calling was loud and clear and we took many ones and twos. Great improvement from last week boys, keep up the good work. Ollie R was the highest scorer with 13 not out today. Well done Ollie.

Very happy  with the way the boys played today and really impressed with both teams who showed exemplary behaviour through out the game and played with the right spirit.  Well done lads.

Next Saturday the AJ U9’s play Bank of England.c.c at Dundonald park.
